Some mind benching challenges await with TwentyFour! - a recent App Store release based on a mathematical card game.
The object is to add, subtract, multiply, or divide a group of four numbers with each other in order to reach 24. Every set of four numbers has a solution, which may seem impossible when you see some of the combinations. With each success you are given another challenge - which will keep you busy for a while since there are 1,362 total sets waiting to harm your brain.
Playing through the math game is pretty smooth and takes very little time to learn. TwentyFour! presents you with the four numbers, then by tapping a number and an equation signal, calculates the amount. Cute little sounds accompany each of the taps for effect (which can be turned off in the settings menu).
If playing by yourself gets boring, then you can try out playing others through a shared network. You can host or join a game in progress, and the game keeps tabs on who is the math champion.
There are two options for individual play: Freeplay—where you can take on the puzzles one at a time at your leisure; or speed play—where each puzzle must be solved within three minutes.
The menu options are fairly simplistic, but they handle minor tinkering well. For example, sound effects can be turned off, and if you need the puzzles to be a bit easier the numbers can be restricted to between one and 10. Stats are kept of your individual games as well as those played against others.
Want to add some friends? With one tap you can send an e-mail with a link to download it from the App Store. Whether or not they accept, there is plenty of mental torture in TwentyFour! to keep you busy for awhile.
