alice-free-fall-iphoneHave you ever wondered just how Alice felt during her descent down to Wonderland? The developers at Flipcoin Studios have the answer. Their new app Alice Free Fall uses the strange, dreamy theme of Alice and the rabbit hole as the backdrop for a simple game that's big on graphics.

In this game, you are Alice and  your goal, as you fall ever farther down, is to earn points by collecting the roses while avoiding certain death from the playing cards. Along the way mushrooms will reverse your direction, clocks will slow your descent and bubbles will provide protection. Each level new items are added to up the challenge.

If you're observant, you'll also find extra tips in the lower right corner of the screen that give you the ability to blast your enemies, earn extra lives, or harvest an entire screen of roses with single shake. There are a lot of little details to pay attention to as you move through the game — with many ways to increase your score.

Alice Free Fall is controlled exclusively through the accelerometer. This worked great for me, but unlike some accelerometer-based games, there is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the controls.

There are other games that use falling as their main navigation — such as Raindrop — but what makes this app stand out is the graphics. Alice Free Fall has beautifully illustrated graphics and a dreamy soundtrack that make this game a joy to play over and over again.

Alice Free Fall has the attention to detail that separates a one-shot game from a those that find a more permanent place on my iPhone.
