In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs indicated that 60 Million Apps have been downloaded during the AppStore's first month of operation, for a total of about $30 million in sales, $10 million of which goes directly to Apple.
"I've never seen anything like it in my career in software" he said. "Maybee it will be a billion dollar marketplace at some point in time"
Here at Appcraver, we agree. The iPhone app economy reminds us of the early PC applications economy circa 1992. The $30 million number is astounding, considering there are only a couple million iPhones out there. And its clear that this is only the begining - as more and more iPhones get sold, and as the applications mature, this clearly will be a massive market.
