RWH Technology has released an update for SpeakColorsHD, a speech therapy app designed to help children with special needs learn how to speak simple sentences using colors and photos of objects. The update includes more types of sentences, the ability to use your own photos, support for iPad retina display, an improved default male voice and a new, female default voice. SpeakColorsHD 2.0 is available for the iPad.

Increasing vocabulary, phrase length, and receptive and expressive language skills are common goals for children with language delay. "SpeakColorsHD helps increase the use of descriptive color words and encourages increased phrase length," says Tiffany Harrison, speech language pathologist and co-designer of SpeakColorsHD. "Children are motivated to talk by the colorful photos and by the ability to record and listen to their own voice". The different types of sentences included in the app provide multiple levels of difficulty to provide new challenges and keep the interest of children as their speech and language skills improve.

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month. For this event, SpeakColorsHD 2.0 is available for an introductory price of $2.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.
