Fandor, an online indie and international film streaming service, today released its iPad app. Members now access to Fandor's curated library of over one thousand independent and international films and makes it easy to share them with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
With access to films that aren't available anywhere else, including titles often overlooked by conventional movie services, at the heart of Fandor is a library that both independent film fans and mainstream movie fans will enjoy. The new iPad user interface integrates Facebook for easy sharing, which makes it a breeze for movie fans to help spread the word about movies they love.
"Fandor is a dream for movie lovers, offering an abundance of entertaining content and providing new ways to discover amazing, hard to find films," said Fandor founder and CEO Dan Aronson. "With Fandor's iPad app, it's easier than ever to watch and share great films anytime, anywhere."
The app features the "Spinner", which offers members a fun new way to find great movies to watch. Members can hit "spin" to be presented with a choice from the library to watch instantly or add to their queue. They can also narrow their search by customizing their search criteria such as specific era, genre or length of movie before spinning.
"The Spinner helps you navigate the world of independent movies without overwhelming you with choices," continued Mr. Aronson. "It's especially useful for finding great short films on the go."
Along with the uniqueness of the Spinner as well as sharing with friends via Twitter, Facebook and email, members can also connect and watch on a TV with iPad 2. They can also rate movies, manage their film queue. The app also includes ad-free viewing.
It's not all about the money for Fandor either. Through their distribution model, they share a portion of subscription fees with indie filmmakers and distributors to ensure they can continue to create cinematic masterpieces.
For members new to the service, they can start enjoy films immediately with a free unlimited seven-day pass available on Fandor's website. Subscriptions are also available within the iPad app starting at $2.99 per week, $9.99 per month and $99.99 for an annual subscription.
