Submissions for the first annual Zacuto sponsored Original iPhone Film Festival are now closed and three finalists have been selected in the categories of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Music Video and Brand Film. The grand prize winner will be decided by public vote and announced January 26 at the Macworld Expo LIVE! event with Macworld magazine in San Francisco.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the response we had to the 2011 Original iPhone Film Festival and are already talking about OIFF 2012," says Original iPhone Film Festival Founder, Matt Dessner. "The truth is the OIFF has become much bigger than we had originally anticipated. The industry is growing rapidly and we have been approached by a couple of other film festivals that are interested in using iPhone filmography as a new category in their own festivals."
The Original iPhone Film Festival was created to showcase the talent, imagination and creativity of iPhone filmmakers. As Zacuto Director, Steve Weiss always says, "It's about the story, not about the camera." At the Macworld Expo, OIFF founders will also be discussing all things iPhone: filmmaking, showing films, and most importantly, announcing the Grand Prize winning film! If you are unable to attend the event in San Francisco, you will still be able to watch it live on UStream at either Macworld.com or UStream.tv.
All finalist videos can be viewed in the Winners Showcase on the Original iPhone Film Festival website.
Zacuto has donated four iPhone Point'n'Shoots to be given away to a few of the finalist and one lucky winner will receive the grand prize, a new Macbook Air. Other prizes include an iPad, Apple TV, apps like MovieSlate, Prep for iMovie and Clips for iMovie and much more.
