Even small twitter timelines can move fast these days. Interesting content shared by others get buried in conversations or social media check-ins. Blue Parabola, LLC has just released Plume 1.0 for iOS, an app that aggregates the URLs shared in your Twitter timeline.
Plume aggregates the Web pages shared by your friends on your Twitter timeline, eliminating all the chatter. The result is similar to an RSS feed, but provides highly relevant information curated by the people you follow.
Plume can also import and work with a user's existing Twitter lists, and allows them to create their own in-app lists called "Feathers." A feather can include any Twitter account, regardless of whether the user follows them, and can even be shared via e-mail or Twitter.
Plume is a powerful tool for both capturing important content shared on Twitter as well as neatly separating the information you want to keep tabs on. Unlike most other Twitter clients, Plume keeps a permanent record of all the URLs it aggregates, and allows you to "star" them for later viewing.
Plume is not a traditional Twitter or RSS client. It incorporates many features of both and adds features, like:
- Offline reading capabilities
- Support for the creation of mobile-friendly versions of most Web pages
- Ability to hide social check-ins from a timeline
Plume supports a variety of sharing features, including the ability to retweet, favourite, and tweet a link, send a short synopsis of a Web page to another user via e-mail, or save a link to Instapaper.
Plume 1.0 is $2.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Social Networking category. Review copies are available upon request.
