Word game enthusiasts are accustomed to making words from a jumble of letters. Ordet takes that challenge to its ultimate conclusion by asking players to find not one, but every possible word that can be made from 7 random letters. At the start of each level, players know exactly how many 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7-letter words can be made. In the center is a blank list of every possible word, with each group of 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 underlines offering spaces for letters to be filled in above. The longer the word, the more points it is worth.
For example, the following capital letters may appear at the bottom of the screen, which is in portrait orientation: S-H-R-H-U-R-A. Each of the 7 letters on the keyboard is touch sensitive, and tapping any letter removes it temporarily from the keyboard and moves it to the next empty letter in the letter bar at the top of the screen. After players finish spelling a word in the letter bar, tapping the red enter key fills in the appropriate blank word in the found words list.
In this example, Ordet tells players that there are a total of six 3-letter words, five 4-letter words, one 5-letter word, one 6-letter word, and one 7-letter word possible. Players may find the 7-letter word before all 13 shorter words are made. They then have the option to go on to the next level with their accumulated points or continue play on the current level and possibly add to their score. Finding all 14 words in this level confers a 250-point bonus. (Puzzle solution: 3) ash, hah, has, huh, rah, shh, 4) hash, hush, rash, rush, shah, 5) harsh, 6) hurrah, 7) hurrahs).
While recording every word made in its found words list, the game also tracks elapsed time, progress towards finding every possible word, current score/high score, last play, and the level. Players can tap any unfamiliar word in the found words list to read the dictionary definition, without leaving the app. Where players have found every word except the final, 7-letter entry, they may use the last-ditch hint button that provides the correct first and last letter with a small penalty.
"Ordet's gorgeous, minimalist design makes it a pleasure to use," commented Bryan Enders of La Nausee. "Ordet is the perfect word game for you, whether you are trying to expand your vocabulary, keep your mind active, or just pass the time with something engaging and enjoyable. It is both addictive and challenging - a treat for experienced and novice word game players alike!"
