Screen Four Software today is pleased to announce Remarkable 1.2 - Notes for Audiobooks and Podcasts, an update to their iOS Productivity app that allows users to take voice or text notes while listening to audiobooks and podcasts. The ideal note taking solution for audio-based learning, notes are saved and organized by audio program, date recorded, and time into the program. Users can easily browse important notes about a college lecture, podcast, or audiobook, and then email notes to friends, coworkers, professors, or their Evernote account.
Formerly known as Audio Footnote, Remarkable version 1.2 improves on the original with the addition of the following: text notes, audio notes recorded as WAV files, context button (hear the program from the point the note was taken), re-record or append voice and text notes, and Retina display support. "...making notes during an audiobook or a podcast is now a cinch: just record it!" - AppSafari.com
- Listen to the audiobooks and podcasts you already have on your device
- Seamlessly record a voice note while listening or type a text note
- Re-record or edit voice and text notes
- Program playback automatically stops and resumes after recording
- Listen from the point you recorded the note with the Context button
- Notes are saved with date and time stamp letting you sort your notes by the date recorded or the time into your program that the note was taken
- Share your note by emailing to a friend or to your Evernote account
Remarkable is effortless in operation. The user simply opens Remarkable and starts listening to the podcast or audiobook chosen. The app includes standard player controls and a convenient button that automatically moves the play head back 30 seconds and resumes play. Beneath the thermometer display showing elapsed time are two large touch-control buttons: Write Note and Record Note. Touching the first, blue button pauses the program and launches the iDevice's virtual keyboard. The user is free to enter and edit their note, press Done, and then Save Note to return to the program.
Audio notes work the same way, except the user touches the red button, which pauses the audio program and immediately begins recording live audio, as indicated by the LED-like mic level meter. When finished, users can save or delete their audio note, and resume listening. The app includes a separate screen for all notes appended to any program, and these may be sorted by Most Recent or Time In. Both text and audio notes appear on the scrolling list, and both include the time into the program at which the note was made, the date, and time. Audio notes also include a blue number indicating their length in seconds.
Most conveniently, users can go directly to a note, review it, and then touch the Context button to resume playback of the program from the point at which the note was made. "Students are going to find it a real time saver." - KillerStartups.com
"Audiobooks, podcasts, and audio lectures have simplified learning," commented Eric Granata of Screen Four Software. "Now, Remarkable 1.2 - Notes for Audiobooks and Podcasts for iOS has made notetaking while listening equally simple."
Remarkable - Notes for audiobooks and Podcasts 1.2 is $3.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category. Review copies are available on request.
