Step 4 Moral Inventory 1.0.4 for iPad Makes Entries Even Easier

share:

Independent developer James Hollender today is pleased to announce version 1.0.4 his Step 4 Moral Inventory app for the iPad. This app provides an easy-to-use, detailed process by which persons participating in Addiction Recovery Programs can be aided in completing Step 4 of the 12 Steps without the use of any spreadsheets. For those who have been thinking about getting an iPad, this app might provide the justification needed since a thorough moral inventory typically takes a full year to complete. New in version 1.0.4 is a check to prevent accidental pasting of all fields for forms and also the capability to erase multi-line text fields with a single tap.

Create your own personal Moral Inventory using an iPad.

Background: The Step 4 Moral Inventory app was created because of the complexity and length of time needed to do a proper Moral Inventory. When persons working their way through a 12-step program start creating their own moral inventory and discover that some ways of doing a Moral Inventory might require a thousand spreadsheets, the task seems daunting and many never get around to finishing it, thus depriving themselves of the rewards a Moral Inventory can provide. This app is a first attempt at finding a way to make the task less time consuming, while at the same time helping the user create a valuable asset in their recovery process.

Storage of your Moral Inventory data is done using an underlying database which can be backed up and restored if necessary. During activities where records are being updated, reviewed or read, an advanced search capability is available.

Acknowledgement: Many thanks to "George" and his "Dungeon Prison Complete" spreadsheet which has been used as the outline for this app. This spreadsheet was developed based on years of his own personal research of the AA Big Book, along with help from many others who had already gone through the process of doing their own Moral Inventories. This was done in order to more fully understand the application of the concepts for doing his own Moral Inventory. His extensive research resulted in the creation of the "Dungeon Prison Complete" spreadsheet, a detailed set of instructions on how to do your own Moral Inventory, including several new concepts not covered in the AA Big Book: Sources of Anxiety/Excitement as a 4th Category; and a set of Sex Relations exercises. Both of these new elements were discovered to be critical in eventually understanding why we do what we do, the end result of doing your own Moral Inventory.

Moral Inventory Lite

There is also a Lite version of the Moral Inventory App which provides a mock moral inventory which can be experimented with. The mock data allows the user to see examples of how questions might typically be answered and also gives the user the opportunity to make changes to the mock data records including adding, deleting and modifying them. This gives the user the opportunity to experiment with using the program before moving onto the full version to work on their actual moral inventory. By restarting the app the user is given the opportunity to restart from an original copy of the mock data, so there isn't any fear of making mistakes when using the Lite version. CAUTION: The Lite version has limitations on the number of records that can be entered and is insufficient to complete a full moral inventory. Data entered into the Lite version cannot be transferred to the full version, and also the print, backup and restore capabilities are disabled, otherwise the features are identical. The Lite version is intended to be used as a companion program to the full version.
