The Day I Became A Pirate, a new Book App released to the App Store for the iPad and iPhone, has reached #8 in just four days.
An exciting adventure tale told in rhyme includes fun animations, sounds, puzzles, an original song and the first ever Pirate X-Ray machine is featured as a new app in both the iPad and iPhone categories, and reached #9 for paid iPad apps in the books category in only its fourth day of release.
The rich and detailed story was created by Cary Snowden, who told the story to his two young boys to keep them motivated during a hike along the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The setting along the beach provided a perfect backdrop to the story and before they knew it, all three were fully engaged in a timeless pirate adventure. The Boy in the story is modeled after Snowden's youngest son.
Snowden made notes on the story during the vacation stay and wrote the entire text on the plane ride home. "I couldn't stop writing all the way home" says Snowden, "The story continued to unfold in wonderful rhyming sentences and I couldn't help but laugh out loud on more than one occasion. It was like watching a movie."
Snowden read the story to his family the next day; "I was shocked when my children asked me to re-read it immediately, and then again later that evening for bedtime."
Snowden teamed up with illustrator Zach Clough to bring the crew of personalities to life in wonderful colors and actionable poses. Book app software TaleSpring.com provided a perfect environment to add motion and sound that allows the book to come alive with engaging animations and fun sounds.
