Word Pivot LLC is thrilled to announce the release of WordPivot 1.0.3, a research-based reading app that creates personalized quizzes inside the pages of your favorite eBooks to help you turbocharge your vocabulary. With support for thousands of titles and thousands of words, WordPivot features the two most important ingredients for information retention, context and repetition, without distracting from the reading process. The social features of WordPivot allow users to share, comment on and view updates from friends or teachers to promote further engagement with the text.

WordPivot for iPad is based upon industry-leading literacy research as well as real-world-classroom experience. The research shows that: (1) As much as 50 percent of our vocabulary is developed during the time we spend reading. (2) Vocabulary is one of the most important elements of reading comprehension and a strong predictor for academic success. (3) Vocabulary is highly correlated to IQ (increasing vocabulary can increase IQ). (4) American elementary, middle school and high school students continue to do poorly on tests of vocabulary and reading comprehension (NAEP "national report card," December, 2012).
WordPivot is designed to help self-directed readers of all levels work either independently or in groups at the pace that is most comfortable for them.

The app integrates the following key features:
* An intelligent dictionary (including text-to-speech for pronunciation)
* Important high-frequency words from elementary through high school (SAT prep)
* End-of-chapter quiz games
* Support for private and shared annotations
* Thousands of free books
* Parental permission for users under 13

WordPivot 1.0.3 is a free iPad application available worldwide and found in the Education Category of the Apple App Store.
