Working the devise is simple, just pull one of the end balls away from the rest and then let it go. As it hits the remaining balls, the ball on the opposite end will shoot out the other side, only to come back and cause the first ball to be knocked away. The same happens with two balls when lifted and dropped: when they hit the remaining balls, two balls on the opposite end go flying. In fact, any number of balls dropped will force that same number of balls to be knocked out the other side.

It is in this concept, the visual demonstration of bodies in motion, that the heart of the fun lies. In fact, watching the behavior of the balls as some are dropped from different heights or at different times is of such intrigue that Newton’s Cradle has effectively established itself as one of the few toys to gain exclusive status as an executive toy.

Now, thanks to Enabled Solutions you can add that extra touch of professionalism to any workplace setting using your iPhone or iPod touch. From coffee shops to cubicles, with an app like Newton’s Cradle you can give any engagement that added air of expertise. With just the simple dragging and dropping of a ball, you can click your way through any meeting with upper management style written all over you. Or, should you find yourself in a less than enjoyable discussion with a long winded fellow colleague, or anyone else for that matter, Newton’s Cradle affords you a straightforward way of concluding the conversation in a manner reflecting only the highest of business-savvy skills. Simply take out your iPhone, prop it up on the table for all to see, drag out a ball, and let Newton’s Cradle ask, “How many clicks does it take to get to the center of an argument?”

Even if you are not someone into flashing the hottest executive accessories, Newton’s Cradle can still provide endless fun and may even teach you a little something about objects in motion and the mysterious laws that govern them. At the moment there is even a Valentines Day edition where instead of five metal balls the screen displays five red hearts that spell “I (heart) YOU.” So, if you are looking for a low cost way to get those special feelings across to that special someone, or if you want to dress your desk to impress, Newton’s Cradle is both free and effective, personally and professionally.

When you open FaceDouble Celebrity Look alike Plus it prompts you to either take a photo or to choose one from your library. Once you have a photo you want to use, FaceDouble Celebrity Look alike Plus will first ask you if it is a Boy or a Girl and then it will connect to its website and come up with a number of different possible celebrity matches that you can choose from. Once you have chosen the one that you feel is the best match, you can opt to upload it onto the website where it can be voted on by other FaceDouble Celebrity Look alike Plus users. Also, when you choose to send a photo out it will automatically be saved in a section called My Facedoubles section, available in the bottom menu, so that you can show your best matches to friends later.

The FaceDouble Celebrity Look alike Plus app also lets you cast your vote for the best matches in the FaceDouble online user community right from your iPhone or iPod touch by selecting the Vote section from the bottom menu bar. In this section you will see various combinations of people matched with celebrities and you get to rate them 1-10 based on how closely matched you think they are. The photos with the most points based on the voting from the website and app users are then placed in the Best of section, also available on the bottom menu bar.

Since each match is computer generated, it is important to take some things into consideration when taking or choosing a photo. For example, you should try to take the photo head-on so the person is facing the camera. Also, be sure to take off any sunglasses as the computer needs to be able to see your eyes in order to generate a match.

On the whole, FaceDouble Celebrity Look alike Plus is pretty straightforward so if you are into the idea of matching people with celebrities this is will be a pretty fun app for you. If nothing else it certainly takes care of those times when you just can’t pinpoint why someone looks so familiar, now you can just take a quick photo and find out if they have a celebrity double.

There are a few ways to navigate the Babelingo library: categorically, by favorites, or by searching. From the opening page, also known as the Babelingo section in the bottom tool bar, you can choose from seven different categories: Conversation, Time, Getting Around, Money, Eating Out, Medical, and Lodging. Each category has about thirty words or phrases and some even feature a few sub-categories with additional words and phrases. For example under Eating Out, you will find sub-categories of Drinks, Food, and Utensils.

Now, you may not be able to carry on a full, in-depth conversation with the phrases provided in each section, for example, the Food sub-category only has twenty-two entries — seven of which are devoted to different ways of preparing steak and eggs — but even so you will be able to get around with what is given. Also available on the bottom tool bar are a Favorites section for quick reference of frequently used terms and a Search section that will match phrase and word entries based on what you type.

Babelingo also allows you to swap back and forth between the two languages being translated; there is an option on the bottom tool bar with a circular set of arrows. And to allow for easier translation, there is also an option in the upper right corner of every word or phrase display screen that is in the other language. This way the person or people you are talking to can hit it and search Babelingo for a response in their own language. For example, if you speak English and you are translating to Spanish, with every word or phrase displayed in Spanish there will be an option in the above right corner that says “Responder en Espanol.” This makes it so that when you are in a hurry you can just show the person the screen without worrying about pronunciation and the person you show it too will then be able to find the appropriate response without having to know your language.

What Babelingo lacks in depth it makes up for in breadth and versaltility; it may not be able to teach you any one language, but it will be able to help you manage your way through a great many. With 11 different languages, Babelingo is great for the true globe trotter or any one who often finds themselves going on frequent business trips to various countries.

Played on a grid of colorful squares, Remelody is simple and easy to master. Basically, a square is highlighted for you to tap. Once you’ve tapped the first square, that same square will be highlighted followed by another square. Again, you should mimic the events by tapping the first and then the second squares accordingly. From there a sequence builds and you have to remember an increasing number of squares, tapping them in the right order before you can move on to the next level.

There are a few options available in Remelody to customize your game play. You can turn the sound on or off, and you can also hit a button that will save this selection for future games. This feature is very helpful since, despite what the name of the game would have you believe, the sequence of tones created tends to be a bit cacophonous. You can also modify the level of difficulty from Easy, to Medium or Hard, which will respectively decrease the amount of time you have to input your end of the sequence.

Though it has little to do with the game itself, Remelody does provide a cleverly designed menu page that looks more like the home page on a website than anything else. Like a web-page too, most of the options available here will take you online. There is a creative element to making your selection here as you have to drag your choice under the “limelight” that is shining on a cute little anime character singing karaoke. Unfortunately, while it is easy to make your selection and get to your desired web-page, you are forced to re-open Remelody to get back to the game, which can get a bit tedious when every option takes you online.

As a game, Remelody can be a bit repetitive but then again we must keep in mind that after all that is the very nature of a memory game. Remelody does offer professional grade graphics and a thoughtfully designed layout for a price well below what you would expect.

QuickPic is simple, straightforward, and by far the fastest way to get photos from your iPhone or iPod touch onto the Web. Once online, it’s a snap to download the pics to your computer or share them with friends and family.

There really is not much to tell about this app. QuickPic does what it says it does and it does it well, end of story.

When you open the app you see the QuickPic logo (set in Polaroid-esq frame) with a large orange button underneath that says Choose Photo. Tap the button and you are given the choice to either take a photo or choose an existing one from your camera roll or photo library.

Once you’ve chosen a photo, it is automatically sent online using your Wi-Fi connection. The URL to the photo is displayed under the photo with a cute little green arrow. View your photo online using your computer and you are also given the choice to download the image or to view it full size.

QuickPic is great because it will upload your photos without having to plug in your iPhone, all you need is a wireless internet connection. It also works on Macs, PCs, and Linux so you will not have to worry about compatibility. Another cool thing about this app is that it lets you instantly share photos with anyone who has access to the Internet since all you have to do is give them the URL and they will be able to see the photos as well.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the same URL is used every time. When you upload a photo and then go to upload another photo the first photo will be discarded. This just means that you have to deal with the photos one at a time instead of going through a few on QuickPic and then going to your computer and typing to download them.

There are options for sound: you have some different musical tracks to choose from (mostly natural sounds like Ocean Waves and Camp Fire with one more ambiguous track called: Transcendental Whirlwind, which happens to be the default), and you can also turn the commentary on or off.

From Yoga STRETCH’s main menu you can choose to look at the poses one at at time for a more detailed description of what it entails before going into the full routine. Once in the routine you can also pause, go back to the previous pose, or skip forward to the next pose which is quite helpful if something is unclear, you need more time, or you find a particular pose too difficult and want to move on.

Now, Yoga STRETCH has a lot to offer nevertheless yoga, like any physical activity, can be quite dangerous if improperly done. I would recommend only those with previous yoga experience use Yoga STRETCH for a few reasons.

First of all, the instructions are minimal at best and only briefly touch upon how to safely get into and out of different poses. There are also few alternative poses offered for those who may not be able to do the poses described. Also, there is no warm up and before you know it you are thrown into some pretty difficult yoga poses which is dangerous if you don’t know know what you are doing.

Within Yoga STRETCH there is also a major sequencing problem that can be an issue for advanced yogis, the transitions between poses can be awkward and feel unnatural. This is compounded by the fact that the instructor offers no help as to how to get safely from one pose to the next. One example that demonstrates all of these problems is found in the first two poses. The first pose is a seated pose, and the second is a fairly complicated balanced standing pose: there is no warm up and getting from one to the other requires a lot of extra movement that is not acknowledged in the instructions.

There are also some more general glitches that need to be worked out: the quality of the sound recording is less than professional and there are a few poses that are only done on one side. That being said, I think Yoga STRETCH has a lot of potential if the kinks can be adequately fixed. The developers of Yoga STRETCH have a long way to go before the app is appropriate for all levels, but if you are someone well versed in the yogic arts and are comfortable doing the poses on your own but don’t necessarily want to feel alone while doing them, then Yoga STRETCH is for you. After all, the price is pretty cheap as apps go, especially since it is an app that gets you up and moving.

With CareConnector you can keep track of personal medical information for multiple people all in one place which can save time and relieve stress.

When you open CareConnector you are taken to the Care Planner section which is for the most part, a list of those people for which you need medical information. Each name on the list stores important details specific to that person that are crucial in an emergency situation, such as: social security, insurance company name, group number, birth date, age, address, phone, and allergies.

CareConnector also helps keep track of the prescriptions for multiple people. In the Prescription section of CareConnector you can create the same kind of list as in the Care Planner section only this time with information limited only specifically to prescription drug details. This section is organized with five headings: Prescriptions for Today, Prescriptions for this Week, Prescriptions for this Month, Prescriptions Completed, and Prescription History. Under each of these headings you can put detailed information regarding various treatments and prescription information as well as keep some notes regarding side effects.

The Journal section also lets you keep track of notes and photos too. Here you can document treatment progress and conditions that may arise so that later you can relay the information back to your doctor on your next appointment.

Under the heading Care Resources, CareConnector also features two different unifying factors to help bring the community of caregivers closer together. First is a network of caregivers that can be accessed right from the app by clicking on Message Board in the opening Care Planner page. Here you can join in on discussions and get advice from people in similar situations. There are also three Caregiver Video Stories that let you get a closer look at the lives of other caregivers and the people they care for.

When you are in charge of the well being of another person anything that can help relieve the stress is a welcome change. As a free app CareConnector helps you take some control in situations that might seem overwhelming at best and for that alone it is worth looking into if you are a caregiver.

Now you can discover the historical significance of what is pictured on a whole host of different foreign currencies right from the convenience of your iPhone or iPod touch.

When you open Moneypedia you default to the Featured section where images of different bank notes from around the world are displayed front and back. This section works much like a currency slide show that goes on continually scrolling through the large number of notes found in the Moneypedia library. If at any point there is a note that catches your eye, you can tap the little information “i” on the top right of the screen to stop the slide show and find out more details about the particular note displayed.

Beyond the Feature section there are a number of ways to search through the large library of notes found in Moneypedia.

First there is the Currency List where the individual bank notes are lined up alphabetically by country with the country name on the bottom right of the note. This makes for a nice display as you can view all of the enlarged notes in one continual scroll. Beyond that you can also search by Country where the bank notes themselves are thumbnail sized and the country is more prominent. Then in the Index section you can search based on numerical value.

With each search in Moneypedia, once you find a currency that you want to take a closer look at just touch it and you will be taken to a screen with the full range, from lowest to highest value, of that particular currency. For example, in US dollars you will see the range from $1 to $100, including the often illusive $2 bill. At this point when you click on a note you will find out all the juicy details: size, issue date, denomination, and descriptions of what and who is pictured on the front and back of the note.

Tapping into a curiosity that once roused is not soon dismissed, Moneypedia will catch your eye and keep you interested. For anyone with a fancy for foreign currencies or for anyone into colorful depictions of historically significant individuals from around the world, Moneypedia is a must have.

Spoilage is a battle royal over space on a slice of Swiss cheese. As purple bacteria you fight against the dreaded green bacteria for dominance, and in the end only one can rule the cheese.

To win the slice you must multiply by landing next to green bacterium and turning them purple, all the while trying to avoid being turned green. There are two moves in which you can use to gain ground as the valiant purple bacteria: you can replicate and you can jump. When you replicate you move only one space but keep the square you had previously occupied. When you jump you travel further but are forced to abandon the square you jumped from as fair game for your opponent.

Obstacles such as holes and oil spots are also thrown in the mix to keep things challenging. Depending on where you are on the board, these may limit your ability to replicate, forcing you to veer around them or jump over them. There are also three different levels of play from which to choose from: “Smelly,” “Rancid,” and “Rotten.”

When interviewed about the game, James Gillespie remarked: “Ultimately I was trying to create something you could play if you only had a few minutes to kill, but that would still be challenging if you’d already played it a million times.” Spoilage is just that, easy to pick up again and again but just as hard to put down every time.

Medical Abbreviations arranges its abbreviations by first letter, with those beginning with numbers or symbols coming before A. You can scroll up and down the list or simply touch the desired letter on the right hand side of the screen to jump to your desired section.

All of the abbreviations are defined in the simplest terms so that most of them can be read right from the list. However, if the definition is too long to show it all in the list, simply tap the abbreviation and you will be taken to a screen with the complete definition. Though the definitions are brief for times sake, they are by no means without depth as some give detailed information about where the abbreviation came from. For example, the abbreviation “applic” is defined as “Applicandus (Latin meaning ‘to be applied’).”

There is also a fast search feature in Medical Abbreviations that will search as you type. With this search feature, you can search abbreviations and definitions at the same time. This way, you can easily find the definition for an abbreviation or find the appropriate abbreviation pertaining to a specific condition.

Medical Abbreviations is constantly being updated and new abbreviations are added with each new edition. Also, Medical Abbreviations is a community-supported database which welcomes suggestions from their users.

Medical Abbreviations will help you find the abbreviation you are looking for almost instantly from whereever you may be. If you are in the medical field, this app might just prove to be an invaluable tool.
