The Sea Battle App Will Blow Your Mind

Sea Battle is a classic first person shooter with only one action button. Not that it’s a bad thing. It keeps the simplistic ‘shoot or die’ stance in mind at all times. The objective of Sea Battle is to watch unsuspecting boats and ships sail by through your submarine’s periscope crosshairs – picking out the bad guys from the good and saying good night, literally.

The odd levels are played during daytime hours and the even levels switch to night mode, which is pretty surreal with the dream-like graphics in the background.

Trace Simple Fun That Keeps Players Going and Going

Trace – What a time-filler! In this funky new iPhone app, you can draw your own paths and erase lines you made by mistake in order to get through moving obstacles and reach the level’s end. The learning curve is incredibly easy. If you can pick up a fork, you can play this game.

One of Trace’s best features is its original soundtrack. Old school Nintendo style tick-tones make it fun and pleasant while you analyze your best courses of travel. You can also play your own music if you prefer.

The levels within Trace are fast-paced and easy to beat until you get into the upper stages where high scores get much tougher to conquer. The creative artwork behind the scenes is pleasing to the eye and matches the music’s funky mystique.

Trace, in a nutshell, is simple game play that gets tricky and keeps your attention for hours. And, Trace is free! For a free game that outplays other $5 iPhone apps, we at AppCraver give Trace a proud 7 out of 10 rating.

Harp is Good for Education, Not For Fun

Harp – The Harp App has just been released! After a long-awaited arrival, this musical iPhone app features a sweep-touch virtual harp with 14 chord structures in any of the 12 keys. This equates to a total of 168 unique chords.

The Harp application is a great educational tool for learning intervals, chords and chord progressions. It’s no wonder Harp was awarded the title of the “Best Educational Application” at the iPhoneDevCamp 2 in San Francisco, California.

Harp is played by using the left hand to select the desired chords (using an interchangeable key diagram) and simultaneously sweeping the right hand along the ‘strings’ to cue the tones in a 4-octave range.

In spite of its ease of use, we have some constructive criticisms for this application.

rRootage is Easy Entertainment for Experienced Gamers

rRootage is truly visually spectacular. It is often hard to keep your eyes where they need to be in order to beat the game because of all the beautiful imagery going on toward the top of the screen. This makes the game twice as enjoyable.

A couple of points on the mechanics of the game, it’s almost impossible to keep your finger glued to the screen at all times while trying to avoid the bullets. So when you reapply your finger, it often pauses involuntarily because it is really sensitive to the tap of your finger. This can be avoided by being extra careful, but it is annoying in the beginning.

Cannon Challenge – Be a Kid Again

If you had a cannon, what would you do? So would I. Fortunately, this cannon is tiny, digital and comes as an iPhone application. Cannon Challenge is a hand held battlefield where you can destroy as many targets as you would in real life — all of them.
