If you are an iPhone app developer, iPhone junkie, journalist, angel investor or vc — we would love to meet you in person at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. We will be staying at the W Monday and Tuesday nights, and are planning an informal get-together / drinks either of those two nights.

While we won’t have a booth, we would love to sync up and get a demo of your cool app. We will also be showing off a new “app recommendation engine” that we have been working on for months called “App Robot.” Think of it as “Pandora for iPhone apps.” Hopefully this help users find your apps in the jungle we call the App Store.

Gene Munster, one of the leading (if not the leading) Apple analyst released his seminal report on the state of Apple and the iPhone this morning. We are publishing it in its entirety for AppCraver readers below.

Some takeaways: iPod sales are slowing considerably (no surprise) due to substitution for iPhone. The new Macbooks are selling well, and the iPhone continues to break new records. Sometime in 2009 expect an entirely new iPhone, as well as some type of sub 1000 dollar Macbook air.

TwitterFon is a Free, Clean Twitter Cient with Search

TwitterFon, by Japanese developer Kazuho Okui is, in the author’s own words “a simple and fast Twitter client for your iPhone”. Unlike other apps such as Twinkle, it has a plain, simple background, and really tries to stick to the basics – no geo social networking, no ability to “broadcast your location” – just a clean, simple Twitter interface.

App store Month 4: The Beast has Evolved

Its now been just a little over 4 months since the launch of the App Store, and it feels that the platform is starting to reach a new stage of evolution. Here are a few signs of the new world order:

1. Multiplayer apps have arrived. Originally, Multiplayer on the iPhone meant having to be on the same Wifi network. Not any more. Apps like Zynga’s Live Poker have brought true Yahoo Games type multiplayer experience to the iPhone. Play with anybody, anytime, anywhere.

2. Apps are becoming increasingly creative. Nobody would have predicted 4 months ago using the iPhone as a musical instrument. But Smule’s Ocarina has done just that — and is now the number one paid app on the iPhone store. Google’s mobile app allows you to talk into your iPhone and get immediate search results. Just when you think that everything has been done, new uses of the mobile platform emerge.

Big Oven delivers 160,000 Recipes in Free App

If you like to cook, you might want to check out the free app from “Big Oven” an interactive Recipe site which boasts over 160,000 recipes. The Big Oven iPhone App, which allows you to create and upload your own recipes as well as tap into the recipe database stands out mainly by the sheer amount of content, and not necessarily the quality. Also, the implementation of the app leaves a lot to be desired. Try searching for “short ribbs” (with two b’s) and the app is not smart enough to correct the spelling mistake. And there is no clear way to distinguish between the hundreds of short rib recipes, most of which do not have pictures.

In an ideal world, I would like to have iPhone app versions of my favorite cookbooks, (Wolfgang Puck, Nigela Lawson etc..) and not “user generated content”. Still, at this stage you take what you get, and as I mentioned, the app is free

Snow Patrol Releases Original “Origami” App

In conjunction with their latest CD, “A Hundred Million Suns,” Snow Patrol (“Chasing Cars”, “Run”…) released their new app Snow Patrol Interactive Booklet containing the lyrics to the song in interactive, origami-like packages that you open with your fingers. This origami app is free, and cool if you happen (like me) to own the album. It could of course be better (no music here, folks), but it’s not a bad idea and the execution is worth checking out.

Bow Cam is an App for Photographing Dogs — No Joke.

Bow Cam is a Japanese App whose sole function is to assist in taking pictures of your dog. As the app notes point out, whenever you try to take a picture of a dog, the hardest part is to attract his attention. Bow Cam solves this problem by having a “bark” button right above the speaker button. Click the bark button, and your iPhone will bark at the dog, causing him/her to look straight into the lens. With Bow Cam you can even select what kind of bark you want — German Shepard or Chiwawa.

I’ve tried this out with my dogs and it works. Would I recommend paying $0.99 for an app to take a picture of your dog? That depends on how much you treasure your pet…

Apple has more Cash than MSFT, 55% of Net Profits

In Apple’s latest quarterly results, the company showed that it had 24.5 billion in cash and short term marketable securities, 10% more than Microsoft’s 20.7 Billion stash. Also, Apple reported adjusted net profit of $2.44 Billion, versus $4.37 Billion for Microsoft. ~~Adjusting for iPhone sales which are amortized according to GAAP accounting, “true” net profit is probably north of 3.5 Billion, almost three quarters of MSFT’s net.~~

Apple’s stock also appears very undervalued to us in and of itself and relative to Microsoft. At current price levels (94 for AAPL, 20 for MSFT), AAPL is valued at 85 Billion, while MSFT still has a 200 Billion dollar cap. This is even more remarkable considering that AAPL has grown its earnings from 2 Billion in 2006 to 3.5 Billion in 2007 to 4.6Billion for the trailing 4 quarters. Next year, its conceivable that Apple could earn ~~almost the same as Microsoft (15-20 Billion)~~, 10 Billion. Apple is certain to roll out new products, including a new release of iPhone.

So here we have it, a company with 25 Billion in cash, growing at over 50% annually, priced at something on the order of 8 times next years earnings!
