With more than 463 reviews, JellyCar has received an average user rating of four out of five stars on the App Store. Created by the Glendale-based developer, Walaber, it was released on October 19 and has already seen quite a few downloads in the App Store.

According to Walaber.com, “The game is about driving a squishy car through squishy worlds, trying to reach the exit. JellyCar features soft body physics for all of the objects in the world. Also, your car can transform for a limited time to aid progression through the level.”

]]> flycast mobile broadcast- iphone app The developers of FlyCast held nothing back when they released their music broadcasting app. Since its release to the App Store,  FlyCast has generated quite a few comments, and it seems most everybody liked the app. Like most music radio apps, FlyCast allows you to change stations based on your music preference. I always prefer starting out with the top 40 to see just how current their selection is. I must say FlyCast impressed me, not only because of their music selection but because FlyCast is so easy to use.

For someone that is new to the iPhone, FlyCast makes it very easy to listen to your favorite music. The UI in FlyCast is very pleasing to the eye and is designed in such a way that makes listening to music easy and enjoyable. A great feature of FlyCast is the ability to surf the web while you are listening to music. The developers have implemented a web search icon on the top right of the screen that takes you directly to Google. Since the iPhone won’t let you run numerous applications at once, this feature is incredibly handy. Quite a few radio stations also allow you to skip songs, unlike Pandora which limits you to 6 skips per station.

]]> shazam-appHave you ever heard a song on the radio or being played over the speakers somewhere and wondered what it was? Well a new iPhone application known as Shazam takes care of that problem once and for all. In order to capture the artist and song name, all you have to do is hold your iPhone close to the music and Shazam will do the rest.

Shazam has just released a statement that the Shazam app has been downloaded by more that 1.5 million iPhone users since its release to the App Store. In addition to the downloads, Shazam users have tagged more than 20 million songs using the music tagging app.

Shazam, with its large and growing user base, plans on constructing a premium version of the music identification app to include better features and more functions. Alongside these plans, a mobile advertising platform will be introduced. Shazam is also making a cut for sending users to the iPhone store to purchase the tracks that they have tagged.

]]> Apple released information about the iPhone Developer University program, a free program that is available to higher education institutions throughout the country. This program would give university-level students hands-on opportunities to create and develop applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Apple commented on the iPhone Developer program:

“The iPhone Developer University Program is a free program designed for higher education institutions looking to introduce curriculum for developing iPhone or iPod touch applications. The University Program provides a wealth of development resources, sophisticated tools for testing and debugging, and the ability to share applications within the same development team.”

Among the institutions to take advantage of this newly developed program, Stanford has announced that they are currently making applications that will allow students to access university web-based services through their iPhones.
