As a homeowner, I can attest to the problems figuring out how to care for a fledgeling lawn and arachnid infestation after a harsh winter. And now that spring has sprung, I’ve turned my hours of waiting for the sun to hours of trying to become a professional green thumb and pest controller. Luckily, Bug & Weed Identifier by Spectracide is a handy little app that not only helps me identify what the problem is, but also provides solutions for giving my house the curb appeal it deserves.
One of the greatest features of this gardening app is when you start out it automatically asks you which season you\’re currently in and what region you live in. Even if you don\’t know about pest control you at least know that bugs and plants can be specific to a certain region. After you select your defaults, the app then opens to a tiled screen that offers four options, including browsing a pest guidebook, locating a retailer, capturing and comparing and UPC scan and learn.
The Bug & Weed Identifier by Spectracide pest guide is extremely helpful as it features pictures for insects and weeds along with descriptions of each. Once you find the picture of the foe in your lawn you click on it and a humorous description is displayed such as “Chiggers. Just the name evokes shivers…” Once you\’re done chuckling and are brought back to the reality that your home or garden has a real problem, you tap on the find a solution tab to bring up a variety of options to take care of the pest.
For instance, if your lawn does have Chiggers, the app suggests Spectracide’s very own Triazicide Concentrate. This read-to-spray bottle kills over 130 insects on contact, offers long-lasting protection and won’t harm plants or vegetables. Make sure to check out the pest control video overview within the app. It’s branded, but is very helpful.
Once you\’re ready to purchase simply click on the locate a retailer tab, enable location sharing and the app will bring up stores in the area that carry the solutions within the app. There’s a Lowe’s down the street from me so it should be a fun weekend. Of course, I have to go to Bed Bath & Beyond too. I don’t know if I’ll have enough time for everything though.
