| | How to make your iPhone battery last longer The battery life of an iPhone 3G is nothing short of embarrassing. The secret is out and it is almost funny how blatantly Apple showed lack of care for this feature. They don't even provide the option of having a spare battery! So you could say that's two slaps in the face. But Apple has given advice on how to preserve your battery life. They are all pretty much common sense, but some provide to be useful. Most tips simply instruct you to turn off anything and everything that you're not using at the moment. Here are some helpful hints to saving your battery life: - Adjust brightness to lower dim level
- Minimize use of third-party applications like games that prevent the screen from dimming and applications that use location services.
- Fetch your email less frequently. I found this made a rather noticeable difference on my original iPhone. (You can change your e-mail settings to poll by the hour)
- Turn off 3G, location services, push email, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth when you're not using them
- Turn off equalizer when listening to your song play lists
- Lock your phone when you're not using it so that you don't keep accidentally turning on the screen. (Just press the sleep/wake button at the top of the phone)
The most curious tip I've seen is to make sure you keep the electrons in the battery moving occasionally. This means you should go through at least one charge cycle each month where you run it down all the way dead. Everyone has hear the rumor that you should keep it charged to the max, but apparently, this is good for it! Well I hope this helps someone out there. Drop me a comment if you like! Thanks for taking the time guys, Melissa |

| | You can also get the Big Keyboard app so that you finish your texts and emails faster so you can get off the phone quicker and turn it off to save the battery. Just an idea! |

| | If you set your email preferences to only collecting your email every so often, that will save battery power too. Less vibrations and less prompts for you to mess with your newly received emails |

| | | Max price s/b $60. I'll buy it at that price point. I have no need for a data ( 3G) device. I am a senior and do RV a bit. It would be great to GPS on my Ipad (1) for navigation without a data subscription. iPad to PC TechManMike and Geoff are spot on. Two reasons why a Verizon iPhone launch in Jan is more likely than in June. One, to keep a new model and launch coming out every 6 months to prevent the lull in sales that usually occurs at that time, allowing other phone companies to sell more phones and two, to be able to keep up with demand. If you thought Apple had problems keeping up with the iPhone 4 launch orders wait till they throw in a Verizon/CDMA iPhone at the same time. Instead of a 3 to 4 week wait time you will see a 4-6 week wait time. |

| | Yes Frances2364, I do agree with you for these useful tips that are provided. The usual battery life suspects make an appearance too, reminding you to keep your phone locked as much as possible and to turn your Bluetooth and WiFi off when not needed. iPhone owners should also turn on Auto-Brightness and turn off the equalizer to minimize battery drain. Last but not least, keep your iPhone updated, since future firmware versions may help your battery life. |
