AppCraver just got off the phone with Ed Skolarus and Brian Peterson from Fox Reality Channel, the only all-reality, all-the-time cable and satellite network and home of Battle of the Bods, Gimme My Reality Show, Real Stories of the Highway Patrol, Night Club Confessions, and a variety of other popular reality shows. Tomorrow Fox Reality is releasing the first reality TV mobile video service for the iPhone.
The mobile video service is a web application for the iPhone, and will allow users to view exclusive content and behind-the-scenes clips from shows on the Fox Reality Channel. The web application also features the ability to share video content with friends and the ability to save favorite clips.
To deliver their web app for iPhone, Fox Reality partnered with Transpera, a company featured previously on AppCraver. Transpera is providing video delivery and seamless ad integration for the Fox Reality mobile video service. According to Ed, “giving the reality fan access anywhere on their terms is our goal. Given the ease of use of the iPhone, combined with the ad delivery abilities of Transpera, we believe that the experience of the user will be exceptional.”
AppCraver is impressed with the forward-thinking attitude of the Fox Reality team with respect to mobile platforms in general and the iPhone in particular. We think the logical next step is dedicated iPhone apps for specific content. The process of finding, downloading and using an iPhone app is easier than locating content through a mobile browser; Brian and Ed seemed to agree. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s release, and look forward to more large media companies like Fox making their content more accessible to mobile users.
