FriendSync is a Facebook app for iphone that does one thing really well. It accesses your Facebook friends list and syncs the information it finds with your iPhone contacts list. Pretty nifty.
FriendSync will import contact pictures, names and birthdays.
I’m new to Facebook, but I already see a growing disconnect between my real-life address book and my Facebook friends list. Usually, my friends list is more current. Also, while I haven’t been able to grab a pic of all my contacts, my friends list is filled with profile photos. So, I was excited to test FriendSync.
FriendSync works like a charm. The set-up is painless. Enter your Facebook login information and you’re ready to go.
Check out the options prior to your first sync. Choose whether to sync first and last name, birthday and whether you want to replace your current images with new ones. Also, as of the last update, FriendSync will let you choose an image size as well: fit to screen; full screen; or icon only.
Sync with Facebook. It takes only seconds for FriendSync to reach out and grab your friends information and add it to your address book.
My favorite part of FriendSync is the photo sync. I love being able to add profile pics to contacts that are too far away for me to snap a cell phone pic.
Run the app every now and again to keep things current or add new images when someone changes their profile pic.
The only thing I wish this app would do is add contacts to my list. I’ve reconnected with several friends on Facebook that haven’t made their way into my phone book yet. It would be great if FriendSync would offer the option to add these people to my contacts with name, photo and email.
FriendSync is a great addition to the list of practical tools that should be on every Facebook users iPhone. It’s simple to use, quick to set up and truly useful — a golden combination for iPhone apps.

Barbara, thanks so much for such a great review, I’m glad you like the app!
I’m currently working on an update that will let you add a new contact from your list of Facebook friends. It will only be able to add the name and picture, Facebook does not give access to anyone’s contact information for privacy reasons.

Will this also sync your friend’s e-mail addresses with your address book?

@ Ari: FriendSync will sync name, profile pic and birthday. No email address as per Facebook rules.
@Rob: Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Just having the ability to grab the profile picture is enough reason to use this app… any additional features are frosting.

Mine appears to have frozen. Is there a limit to the number of iPhone contacts that you can realistically have for this to work?

Never mind – took a while to get through my contacts but worked fine.
