Why is six afraid of seven? Because 7,8,9! (Cue hysterical laughter.) This might be an extreme example, but now you really can “cue the laughtrack” when telling jokes that are more “roll your eyes” than “rolling on the floor.”
iLaugh Sound Machine is the most amusing 99 cents I’ve spent on an iPhone app so far. It comes with 20 laugh effects — everything from baby to old woman and toon to evil scientist, recorded individually and in groups. It’s a veritable corny-copia of giggles and guffaws. (Cue the laughter.)
This little app is more useful than it seems. Put a call on speakerphone, then hit home and fire up a laugh track. The sound will be picked up by your speakers and presto-chango you’re a funny guy — funny looking. (Cue the laughter.)
My favorite trick is to start with one laugh effect and then tap others in random succession letting the effects tumble over each as they build to a cackling crescendo. It’s hysterical! And, since laughter is contagious pretty soon the good people in the real world will be laughing with you instead of at you. See how 99 cents can make a difference? (Cue the applause.)
