A $10,000 “Best iPhone Game” prize has been added to next 2009 Independent Games Festival Mobile. The award comes courtesy of a partnership with well-known game publisher ngmoco and Think Services, the festival organizers. Contestants can expect to see prize amounts of up to $30,000 in the highly competitive indie mobile contest.
This time the mobile-focused event has expanded to include iPhone games and there will undoubtedly be a surge in the number of iPhone game submissions in response. Last year's top prize winner Critter Crunch has been fairly successful. Ngmoco’s partnership will also include a Gold Sponsorship of the IGF event.
Alan Yu vice president of Artist & Repertoire for the San Francisco based ngmoco says” ngmoco is proud to support the independent development community and burgeoning micro-studios who are dedicated to creative device defining “ The annual competition offers developers the opportunity to compete in categories like game design, art , technical and audio awards and the coveted Best Game award. Cost shouldn’t be an issue for any gamers because entry into the Independent Games Festival is absolutely free.
Finalists in the “Best Game” category will be invited to San Francisco the week of March 23rd through March 27th, 2009 where the Game Developers Conference 2009 will be held. The deadline to enter the competition is November 17, 2008.
