The Webby Awards, said to be the “Internet’s Oscars,” were announced today. The annual (the thirteenth) Webby Awards honor excellence on the Internet including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and Mobile Websites (about 70 categories in all).
The Webby Awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Internet pioneer Vinton Cerf, RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser, Matt Groening, Arianna Huffington, AKQA global creative director Rei Inamoto, Jamie Oliver and Harvey Weinstein.
Special Achievement Awards were given to:
- Webby Artist of the Year: Trent Reznor
- Webby Person of the Year: Jimmy Fallon
- Webby Breakout of the Year: Twitter
- Best Actress: Sarah Silverman
- Outstanding Comedic Performance: Lisa Kudrow
- Film & Video Person of the Year: Seth MacFarlane
