If you're a fan of the arcade racing genre then you're going to love Nitro, a new 3D racer from Z2 Live. If you're not familiar with the company, you'll be happy to know they're the geniuses behind the very popular titles Battle Nations, Trade Nations and MetalStorm. Their newest edition isn't about building or blowing anything up ... it's about pure speed. Pure, unadulterated speed. It's so good you may want to skip the review and go download.
If you're still reading, then you're a savvy shopper who wants a bit more detail so here we go. Nitro is a very well done piece of racing arcade style. The point of the game is to strap your seatbelt on, leave your worries behind and jam around the track in one-on-one races. In the words of Ricky Bobby, "I wanna go fast," and you can surely achieve this as the break doesn't really need to be used. Beyond the individual races, you can also go up against other players as well as compete in the standard time trials.
Now, I'm a big console freak when I'm not playing mobile games. The one thing that I appreciate in the console world is online multiplayer. I hardly ever touch the actual game and opt for real live competition. If you are like me then another aspect of Nitro you'll appreciate is that they've setup the player vs. players to be able to compete against up to five separate racers. This makes for a lot of adrenaline-pumping action. But remember, "rubbin's racin'."
One important note is that to be able to get a faster car you have to collect various currency while racing. It's not traditional currency, rather it's little icons that represent different upgrades. Of course, if you want to speed up the upgrade process you can purchase premium currency to improve your racing stats a lot quicker.
The gameplay itself is a lot of fun, however, if you're into life-like racing such Real Racing 3, you might want to know that Nitro is a bit more arcade-ish, but that takes nothing away from the experience in my opinion. It's a great ride all around.
This free-to-play arcade racer packs a lot of fun for little to no cost. If you have patience and know your way around the track, you can pretty much play for free. However, like me, you'll probably become addicted and will put down a few bucks on the table to improve your car and really rev up your gaming experience. Nitro, a fun and highly recommended app.
