I like the idea of “NrMe” — a place where users on the iPhone can chat based on location. Specifically, NrMe shows posts within a certain 9 block geo location. The idea, in theory at least, is that you can get information about clubs, bars etc… from people at those specific locations.
In practice, despite an initial positive review from TechCrunch, NrMe is essentially a ghost town. I can see exactly 4 posts from my location in central Santa Monica, and the last one dates from 6 days ago.
The app is also, unfortunately extremely ugly. The choice of color and graphics feels very 3rd grade. Avoid this one.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the review of nrme.
You have to remember that it’s very early days (we only launched nrme 2 weeks ago today).
We have a new version on the App Store from this evening where we’ve opened up the catchment area for messages slightly, and we’ve fixed some other bugs.
We also have a new version with much improved UI and unannounced features coming mid-late next week.
I hope you’ll keep looking back at nrme.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Andrew — happy to review the new version of the site. Please keep us posted with advanced betas. The idea is good — and hopefully it catches on…
