According to the Washington Post, one of Appcraver’s absolute favorite applications, Pandora, is on the verge of shutting down.
“We’re approaching a pull-the-plug kind of decision,” said Tim Westergren, who founded Pandora. “This is like a last stand for webcasting.”
This would be a horrific development. Pandora is one of the very best apps on the iPhone. We gave it a perfect 10/10 in our review – the only perfect score awarded. The problem for Pandora is the hard line (and lack of brains) taken by the music industry regarding streaming of songs in an internet radio format.
I, for one, would gladly pay for Pandora. I think the company should switch from a free model to a paid model — in very short order. They will cut their installed base by 10x, but at least the true Pandora afficionados — such as myself — will have access to thier revolutionary service.
