PhotoShoot: Maim Your Photos in Marvelous Ways

This app is not currently available in the App Store.

photoshoot-iphone-appPhotoShoot — Back in the day I used to watch Murphy Brown and was fascinated by her dart board of ever-changing political references. If you've ever wanted one of your own, well as the saying goes, there's an app for that.

PhotoShoot, the new app from 3 Frog Studios, is a customizable dart board that lets you choose a photo (aka: target) and dart-style to suit your needs. Whether you need a release for pent-up frustration or you're just looking for a quick jug-head chuckle, PhotoShoot is a pretty cheap way to fill the need — and it won't result in a ticket for vandalism.

Darts is the default, but users can actually choose 11 different projectiles including eggs, tomatoes and spitwads for foes or snowballs, pies and kisses for friends. Did we mention that PhotoShoot can be used for friendly fire? Just load up a picture of your special friend and throw a barrage of kisses and cupids.

Once you've covered the target with any combination of shootable objects, there is only one thing left to do. Make sure they see your creation. PhotoShoot can email a photo of your "dart board" or save a copy to your photo library so you can treasure it always or make it your new iPhone wallpaper.

Yes, PhotoShoot is another in a long line of apps that lets users do damage to otherwise perfectly normal photos. Whether you're adding photo frames or some other cartoon effects, these types of apps remain a popular staple of the App Store. And PhotoShoot is a fine addition to the genre. The only thing we'd like to see is an option to upload automatically to Facebook or Twitter. Now that would be a great way to use social media.
