Slifter is the first iPhone shopping app that provides local retail product searches. Developer GPShopper came out with this user-friendly tool, listing over 350 million products in more than 200.000 stores across the US.
The user can search a product by price or distance and share offers and bargains with friends. Slifter offers address and information about the retailers and provides a map to their locations. By clicking the map, the iPhone map tool will open, allowing more detailed views and directions.
The interface of Slifter does not always work perfectly with text at times formatting awkwardly in and around boxes but overall the app works well. Bargain hunting is not for everyone but in the current economic climate apps like Slifter might come in handy even for the inexperienced bargain hunter.
