To celebrate the success of its hugely popular Ocarina musical app, Smule, its developers, has launched an online video contest.
Smule will award $1,000 to each of the best 10 video creators and T-shirts to the runners ups.
Here’s how to enter
- Make your video featuring the Ocarina in a Smulean way.
- Post your video on YouTube in response to The Mule’s “This Contest Blows” video or post it in YouTube’s “This Contest Blows” group.
- Complete the entry form on Smule’s homepage.
“Smulean,” if you haven’t read our interview with Ge Wang, Smule’s co-founder, means “…something with audio and social interaction with the person you’re standing next to rather than virtual. [It's] technology that enables people to do cool things and to be expressive.”
Tune in to weekly live broadcasts with The Mule on the Ustream.TV channel every Monday at 7 pm PST starting Dec. 15 for contest updates and to ask questions.
The contest ends at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time on January 10, 2009. Smule will announce the winners Jan. 12 during the final live broadcast.
A Smulean algorithm, using ratings, average number of stars and total views on YouTube, will decide the winners. As a back up, Smule will appoint a panel of judges to oversee the contest and make the final decision if needed.
