News bias, so prevalent yet so underrated.
The problem with most news you are listening to is that it all starts with an interest in mind – political or private. I mean, most of the time the company pushing the news is using something called an “agenda”.
Agendas flow through the ears of us, the listeners, like Fabio’s hair in a warm Mediterranean breeze.
One example is “your friendly embedded war journalist”. Usually they are sitting on a base, not actually in action – that is governmental bias creeping in. If you knew the truth, you might not be as interested in shooting things (ie people). Fact is, the white house has the power to say, “if you don’t show what we want to show, we won’t protect your journalists on the battlefield”.
Another example is the zombie kid. The news team obviously wants us to think, “Look at the little zombie on TV dear! Aweeee, the little guy!” Sure they start out young and cute, but they grow up to be pretty darn hungry. They get too big for their cages; then what? Dead people everywhere, eating everything; that’s what. Trust me, last straw is when you see a zombie baby eating your neighbor’s 150lb rottwieller. Not cool.
So, back to the point; if we are getting political and private interest bias from different sources, I say take it all in and make your choice baby!
Stitcher is good at that. It takes podcasts and mashes them up. A podcast from the NYTimes might be followed by a podcast from FOX.
You can choose to listen only to one company’s podcast or you can Stitch it.
Save the rottweilers. I vote Stitcher in ’08.
