Beep & Boop by StoryBots
Developer: JibJab Media Inc.
Price: free Download on the App Store

Storybots Beep & Boop is a kid-friendly app for parents to use to track goals and rewards. Like a good behavior chart, Beep & Boop lets families set goals by rewarding tasks such as cleaning rooms, being nice to siblings, following directions, etc. and deterring undesired behaviors like whining, bickering and talking back. Goals and tasks are customizable by creating a list of desired and undesired behaviors. Kids earn “beeps” for good behavior and “boops” for unwanted behaviors. Boops take away from Beeps earned and parents can set a reward for a child to earn at a predetermined number of Beeps. Beep & Boop is a fun and simple-to-use behavior tracker that kids can actually relate to. Beep & Boop is free to download, but requires a Storybots account to use (also free to set up).

Storybots Kid Quoter is another fun app for families, designed for parents to keep track of all the great things their kids say. As the saying goes, “Out of the mouth of babes,” you never know what your kids might say, but it’s easy to forget all those hilarious or mortifying words and phrases that fall out of our kids’ mouths. With Kid Quoter, parents with a Storybots account can keep track and store those moments by jotting down those memories. Kid Quoter supplies 140 characters for entering a quote and automatically dates it. It also allows mom or dad to share the quote with friends and family on Facebook, Twitter or via email.

It notifies users how much time is left in each turn and whose turn is next, creating a sense of order and eliminating bickering.

If sharing is an issue, then it’s likely that there’s a lot of bickering over who gets what and when. When an impartial referee is needed, get kids to agree on using Coin Flip by StoryBots. This virtual coin flip is not only easy, but fun and the best part is it lets mom and dad off the hook for having to be the “deciding” factor. With enough practice, kids will turn to Coin Flip for determining those harrowing decisions all on their own!

The entire Storybots series of apps is a well-rounded collection of content designed for learning. To access all content across all apps, an account is required and a $4.99 monthly subscription is required for premium content. JibJab’s Storybots has a definite place in the early learning app library – whether you’re a parent or a teacher, it’s a collection worth checking out.
