Google Street View, which is already available on the Android, will soon be found on an iPhone near you. After a false start on Thursday, Apple started seeding developers with the 2.2 firmware update for iPhone on Friday. And, as was expected, the latest update includes support for Google Street View.
The features included in the upcoming firmware update include:
— Street View support for Google Maps
— Support for mass transit directions/schedules from Google Transit
— Line-in support for audio accessories and all third-party applications
— Re-adds API's for live-updating while using the maps function
— Support for Japanese emoji icons (screenshot) — a popular feature for Japanese phones
— Allow users to disable iPhone's auto-correction feature when using the keyboard
No word yet on when the firmware update will be available to the public.
