Discovery also announced partnerships with FunMobility, Zed, Transpera and 3Cinteractive through which it will market a variety of mobile media content stamped with Discovery Channel's brands via Web sites and direct to consumers.

FunMobility's FunMo enables consumers to show off and share mobile photos, videos, music, graphics and slideshows.

Zed distributes realtones, ringbacks, Animal Planet-inspired hip-hop ringtones and  wallpapers via U.S. mobile carriers and direct-to-consumer channels including RingToneJukeBox.

Transpera, which provides companies solutions to monetize video on mobile phones, will launch ad-supported content via Mvideo Discovery Channel and Mvideo Animal Planet, which will include video clips from programs such as Mythbusters, L.A. Ink and Meerkat Manor. Also on tap are mobile-to-mobile video sharing, video search, favorites and more. Video services for Planet Green and Discovery Health will launch soon, Discovery says.

Last, Discovery has partnered with 3Cinteractive, a mobile marketing and technology firm, to create  interactive television programming via online and mobile Web sites using 3Ci's Switchblade mobile platform.

Viewers will receive real-time information, interact with programming, express opinions and check TV schedules on their mobile phones. For example, Discovery Health will implement a mobile pregnancy calendar where expectant parents can receive daily information on their mobile devices.
