It’s official but not “really” official! Reports are circulating that Wal-Mart – the world’s largest retailer – may become the second independent retail chain to carry the iPhone 3G. Until now, Best Buy was the only independent retailer other than the Apple store & AT&T stores to carry the phone. This means an iPhone 3G might be available at your neighborhood Wal-Mart just in time for holiday gift-giving.
The word is that the Bentonville, AR headquartered Wal-Mart will begin selling the 3G iPhone as early as Nov. 15. That’s a full two weeks before “Black Friday,” the biggest shopping day of the year. The retailer already sells the full range of iPods, along with a seemingly infinite range of cases and accessories.
Electronics retailer Radio Shack is also rumored to begin selling the handset. Officials at Radio Shack have been tight-lipped and Apple has made no official announcement or confirmation. Wal-Mart customers will likely have to sign a two-year AT&T contract to leave the store with a new iPhone 3G.

Wal-Mart or not, Apple never discounts their products beyond a few dollars. So in effect walmart customers will be paying the same price as everybody else, but missing out on the shopping “experience” that you can get at the Apple store.

Very true, although Wal-Mart can be fun…it’s always an adventure, you get lost, find yourself, then discover items you didn’t even know existed.

I would rather go to the Apple store or At&T store hands-down.
