When Disney first released their hit mobile title Where’s My Water and introduced Swampy and Cranky, their first original mobile game characters, it topped charts and won hearts. In response, Where’s My Perry, featuring Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb, was released and now, Where’s My Mickey has landed as a tertiary title belonging to the same franchise.
In a similar vein, Where’s My Mickey presents a story line featuring the iconic Mickey Mouse character stuck in a series of predicaments where he needs water. Players engage by trying to complete a series of levels featuring physics-based puzzles that involve interacting with elements to create water flow.
Like the original, Where’s My Mickey features the familiar gameplay of swiping away dirt, collecting stars and finding hidden objects. With a combination of classic Mickey animation and new water puzzle elements, Where’s My Mickey could easily be the best one of all. Players use touch screen interface to help Mickey collect buckets full of water by solving the puzzles. Sometimes there’s an obvious solution and other times it’s more challenging – especially to collect all three stars in the process.
Where’s My Mickey has three different stories, each with 20 levels. Each story is riddled with classic Mickey Mouse animation in both the prelude and the cut scenes. Players are challenged to help Mickey run a lemonade stand, put out fire and grow garden plants. The interactive elements include clouds, wind, vines, and of course lava and water. Players are then rewarded for completing a level by finishing with a different animation each time and unlocking the next level. Also included are sneak peek levels for an additional two stories featuring Mickey and Goofy that can be fully unlocked with an additional in-app purchase.
Where’s My Mickey is well-designed and carries forward the favorite elements of the original title as well as brings a few new elements to the table. Fans of the original game and of Mickey Mouse will love Where’s My Mickey and newcomers who simply enjoy an engaging and fun puzzle game can also get in the action. With multiple levels, challenging puzzles and hidden objects, you get a solid game with replay potential and definite entertainment value.
Where’s My Mickey is available for iPhone and iPad and while at first it may seem that Disney is just cashing in on an existing franchise, there are plenty of classic Disney elements thrown in to satiate an appetite for new and interesting. Whether you’re 10 or 100, Where’s My Mickey is a great App Store buy.
