whitepages iphone appThe entire White Pages can now fit into the palm of your hand. WhitePages.com delivers a powerful utility app with a seemingly unlimited number of electronic business and residential entries to the iPhone. All of which are accessible with a few short taps. Like a traditional online phone book, users can search by person, business, or even use the reverse number look up function. The WhitePages.com application gives you the information you need and it does it quickly. It presents the information on your screen in a clear, uncluttered and easy-to-read text box. And, it doesn’t just give you the listing name and address information. WhitePages offers you a couple of helpful extra features as well. The application shows you a map, and offers directions to a location using the iPhones GPS to detect your starting point.

The single best feature of WhitePages is the one-touch dialing. You’ll save yourself lots of time scrambling for a pen because you can save numbers and pertinent details directly into your contacts. Also, impressive is the ability to narrow by category. For instance, you can type “Pizza” and a zip code like “90025” and find results with listings of all the pizza restaurants in your zip code.

WhitePages is pretty useful but it would be even more amazing with a few additions. Noticeably absent is the ability to email the results of a search, although if users have Outlook a simple sync of your iPhone will add the new contacts into the program. It would also be nice to have WhitePages automatically identify unknown callers with its reverse look up function. Although, this would still be pretty limited because there are more than 200 million cell phone users in the United States. The other thing that would be helpful would be the ability to update incorrect information.

A good first effort by the developers and there will no doubt be a fix in future versions. WhitePages is free and currently available in the App Store.

This is almost pointless in my opinion. The iPhone already has internet. What do you need the whitepages for if you can just Google it? Just to have an extra iPhone app on your phone is the answer

Valid point sir but what if your internet goes down Einstein?

Google has a free service they don't advertise. You can text message "G-O-O-G-L-E" with the city and business name and they will text you back immediately with the phone number and address of any business for free. It only costs you the price of your text message.

Pretty cool right? I don't know why they don't advertise it

Such websites like whitepages and http://www.showmelocal.com are in my opinion still one of the best way to search for businesses locally, I just cannot understand the negative comments about the app.
