Apex Legends is here with new developments for the players. This includes a brand-new map called Broken Moon.

The game was released in February 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, in March 2021 for Nintendo Switch, and in March 2022 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Players are encouraged to reside into more ‘edge POIs’ before pushing to the map’s center in this new development according to Respawn.

Apex Legends takes place within the same science fiction divine as Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series, with many Titanfall characters appearing as minor characters or playable Legends.

Let’s get into more detail about this new map and other developments.

New Map ‘Broken Moon’ Is On The Horizon

Randolph Stayer, Apex Legends’ Principal Level Designer on Broken Moon, provided a detailed explanation of the game’s fifth map.

Broken Moon is a terraforming initiative compiled by the Cleo Recovery Council in the aftermath of the devastating meteor influence in 2708. The locations on the map scope from lush gardens worth visiting a massive terraforming machine and a filthy wharf.

Regarding the new map Apex Legends’ official website say, “Explore Cleo, Boreas’ moon, via Zip Rails, a fast new way to travel that curves around, up, down, and through the brutal beauty of the lunar landscape.

Explore the beauty of the Eternal Gardens, or venture to the dark side of the moon and visit industrial locales like the Perpetual Core.”

“We felt like that scale really provides a strong baseline for the pacing and feel of the game and the player count,” Shaw, one of the map’s designers, said in a press briefing last week.

That’s a lot to explore, so let’s go over the new developments of this map in specifics.

New Zip Rails

Zip rails make the game easier for gamers. The Zip pathways in this map are a quick way to travel from one location to another. “These rails are set up along predetermined paths to quickly move from one POI to the next,” it adds.

While riding the rails, players will have access to all of the same features as a zip line, but with greater pace and momentum. And it is this that will alter the player’s experience. But that’s not all; it’s only the beginning.

“Zip Rails also offer an effective means of closing the gap quickly or escaping a risky situation.” One of the best things is that the map is densely packed with massive POIs that provide safe landing pads for numerous squads.

And we know what happens when we land there are shots fired and chaps. But the massive POIs will give the players time to loot before the first shots are fired.

Lead Level Designer, Jeff Shaw said of the Zip rails, “We felt like that scale really provides a strong baseline for the pacing and feel of the game and the player count. Players will find 14 large points of interest on Broken Moon, each suitable for an intense and decisive firefight.”

Shaw also said, “[Zip Rails] allows you and your squad to rotate considerable distances quickly, and even hit up multiple edge POIs early, at the beginning of the game.”

And added, “We really wanted to give squads a chance to go to that POI but get a little more comfortable.”

Little About Terraformer

Zip rails are not the only additions. We also have a terraformer where a four-person group can conveniently land and loot. The terraformer is actually built to keep the moon from dying.

According to the officials, “It is a ‘king-of-the-hill’ drop location with loot throughout, which supports up to 4 teams with comfortable landing spots.”

Let’s Talk About ‘The Divide’

A division between two locations is also introduced, but it is linked by zip rails. In simple words, The Divide is a clustered area of vertical houses stuffed with loot, divided by bridges, and coupled by Zip Rails.

Also, “this is a fast-paced, high-energy location where skills on Zip Rails can lead to a quick victory.

With it comes the addition of new locations to the map such as Eternal Gardens, Alpha Base, Breaker Wharf, Production Yard, Cultivation, and many more. You can even check out the official trailer of ‘Eclipse’.

Lastly, Apex Legends: Eclipse will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on November 1, 2022.
